Social Security Card Requirement


As of June 1st 2009, The Department of State passport offices has begun conducting a random check for VALID Social Security numbers by asking to see the actual copy of the Social Security Card.

Please make a clear copy of the Social Security Card and attach it to your passport application. You may or may not be asked to show the card. If you do not have a copy of the SS card you can apply for a replacement at your closest Social Security office.
