To ensure the security of our nation continues to be at top quality, the U.S Department of State no longer offers name change amendments to passports.
If the name change has occurred within 30 days of the passport be issued there is no charge, so good new for those who are prepared. However, if the name change occurs 30 days after the passport was issued the passport must be renewed and a new passport and passport number will be issued.
There is not much wiggle room with these rules. Make sure it is on your to-do list post name change and you won’t have any problems with your passport when traveling.
